My Philosophy

I believe that a primary goal of a teacher and school is to promote inclusion in classrooms. It is important for children with disabilities to be able to socialize outside of the special needs room. Children with disabilities are able to develop more friendships and better their subject skills. As stated in research, "Kids with special education needs who are in inclusive classes are absent less often. They develop stronger skills in reading and math" (Understood Team, 2021). It also benefits peers by being able to respect others, being a role model, and building friendships. One theorist I relate to the most is Albert Bandera because he believes social learning helps individuals with human behavior and learning (Mcleod, 2016). This is important to me because I believe if you help change the minds of students about how to treat others no matter the difference is of others it would make a huge difference in the community today and change people's opinions about inclusion in classrooms.
Another theorist I relate to the most is
B. F. Skinner because he believes in Operant Conditioning which is where humans learn what is right to get a reward and what is wrong to receive consequences (Staddon, 2008). Children with disabilities are able to look to their peers to see what to do. They are able to learn different tasks that they wouldn't normally learn in a special education classroom. They are able to make more decisions about what is right compared to what is wrong in a general education setting. It is important for students to feel included at school and in classrooms, they are able to benefit from it, and students that do not have disabilities also benefit from inclusion.
